FALL 2013 EVENTS INTERNSHIP - Colonial Life Arena (Columbia, SC)
Summary: Learn/assist with events from start to finish including advancing the show, day of show event operations, and event settlement.
Reports to: Events Manager
Requirements:
• Open to COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY, Junior, Senior, and Graduate Students
• Must receive academic credit (students are required to provide documentation of receiving academic credit for the internship experience)
• NO financial compensation is available for any position
• Travel and housing arrangements are the responsibility of the students
• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
• Ability to work flexible and nontraditional hours including nights and weekends at events such as basketball, baseball, concerts, etc
• Must be organized and hard working
• Must have a fair and impartial attitude toward all work duties
• Should be a team player with great interpersonal skills
• Interact with professionalism in all business matters
• Desire to be on the events side of Sport and Entertainment
• Knowledge of customer service practices
Areas of Focus:
• Learn aspects of the event process (booking, planning, coordinating, executing)
• Learn the process of advancing event/shows
• Help with event operations on the day of the show
• Learn the importance of financials (pre-show (estimates)/post-show/settlement)
• Aid in being a liaison between users of the facility and the facility staff
• Assist Event Managers & Security/Staffing Coordinator with Part-Time Staff fact sheets & briefings
• Event logistics
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

FALL 2013 GROUP SALES & PREMIUM SERVICES INTERNSHIP - Colonial Life Arena (Columbia, SC)
Summary: A primarily sales based internship that also provides experience in ticketing, marketing, event coordinating, and premium services. Required to assist in implementing creative packages, theme nights, and events while helping to maintain key customer sales accounts.
Reports To: Group Sales Manager and Group Sales Coordinator
Details:
• Open to college students seeking an internship to satisfy an academic credit requirement
• No financial compensation is available and housing and transportation are the responsibility of the intern
• Should be able to work in a fast paced environment
• Strong communication and computer skills are required
• Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision
• Graphic design experience is a plus
Internship Objectives include, but are not limited to the following:
• Covering the main Group Sales telephone line and learning to act as an information guide to clients calling in about upcoming events
• Learning to take show orders and control the daily box office flow
• Mailing tickets with proper collateral materials
• Accompanying Group Sales staff during onsite calls
• Assisting with building the Group Sales and Premium Services database
• Helping to research corporations, scouts, schools, and other businesses that may be interested in events and suites
• Learning to create ticket packages and show flyers
• Assisting with the selling of Entertainment and Executive Suites
• Attending any necessary events to help with activities
• Assisting with research and learning to execute promotions in the community
• Attending all organizational meetings
• Assisting the staff with any client parties, birthday parties, tours, and corporate functions
• Assisting with Carolina Basketball in game asset coordination and suite holder customer service
• Learning to telemarket events as needed

• Marketing research that will require making phone calls, faxing, emailing, searching the internet, and conducting meetings with various individuals within the market

Reports to: Director of Operations/Operations Manager
Internship Overview: The University of Phoenix Stadium is currently searching for our next Operations intern. Intern will be exposed to and provide support for operational functions. Intern will also be exposed to other events held at the facility and provide operational support services as needed.
Internship Duties:
• Shadow the operations department during events and assist with event-related and non- event related activities
• Provide Operations Management with feedback as it relates to job duties; and overall intern observations and experiences
• Exhibit an attitude and work ethic that exudes “team player”.
• Perform all other duties as assigned
Additional Duties:
• Provide support for other organizational departments as the need arises both on game days and non-game days
• Provide a professional demeanor and promote a good working relationship with full-time staff, interns, game day staff and our fans
Qualifications:
• The candidate must be college junior, senior or graduate student, who is seeking an internship to satisfy a class credit requirement with their university. Applicable degrees are; Facility Management, Sports Management, or Business Administration. Consideration may be given to other degrees if the candidate can demonstrate equivalent industry work experience.
• Must be able to keep up in fast-paced environment, customer service orientated and professional, and able to participate during normal business hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as based on the event calendar
Length of Internship:
The internship period is Fall of 2013 and will run concurrently with the applicant’s university internship requirements. Hours: Varies. Times and days vary depending on game schedule. To be considered, the intern must be willing to work a non-traditional schedule of hours and days as needed. This would include nights and weekends. Expectations include attending all Arizona Cardinals game dates, some non-game dates, and dates when other events are scheduled.
