MARKETING INTERNSHIP - FALL 2015 - Chaifetz Arena (St. Loisu, MO)

Areas of Focus include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Assisting the Marketing and Group Sales departments for all upcoming shows, including various concerts and family shows

  • Under the close supervision of a regular employee, participate in grassroots marketing, including researching places to distribute flyers, hanging posters, and creating relationships with various retailers to promote events

  • Generating ideas and content for our online platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, emails blasts and the Chaifetz Arena website

  • Working with images from different tours and performers to create web graphics while learning and using Photoshop

  • Researching various events through cold calls, emails and internet searches

  • Accompanying the Director of Marketing and Group Sales Manager to various meetings with clients and industry professionals

  • Learning to coordinate group sales special pre-party events

  • Brainstorming and executing public relations event ideas

  • Gathering press clips via internet search and TVEyes and updating media contact lists

  • Learn to write and edit press releases for future events

  • Learn to use and update various databases and statistics (such as Salesforce, Email Blast percentages, and online ad revenues)

  • Learn to construct marketing and group sales plans

  • Under the close supervision of a regular employee, assist at the marketing table at public relations, promotional, and SLU Men’s Basketball games and other venue events

  • Learn / assist with event day responsibilities

  • Research market to locate potential group clients for upcoming events

  • Making calls to potential group clients for various events

  • Manage variety of in arena marketing assets

  • Perform additional duties and objectives as assigned

     

    Requirements: 

     

  • Open to college juniors, seniors, and graduate students seeking an internship (Financial compensation is available, and housing/transportation are the responsibility of the student)

  • Business, Communications, Sport Management or Marketing major preferred, but not required

  • Minimum GPA of 3.3

  • Prefer 10-20 hours per week during normal business hours with flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated

  • A winning, do-what-it-takes attitude with a desire to learn

BOX OFFICE INTERNSHIP:

LOOKING FOR INTERNS FALL 2015 AND SPRING 2016

Obtain a comprehensive understanding of the operation of the box office at the Crown Complex. Learn tasks necessary in the day-to-day running of the box office through daily skill-building experiences with the Box Office Manager, Assistant Box Office Manager, and Box Office Supervisors.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills both at the box office windows and on the phone.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Learn the importance of cash handling, balancing, and reconciliation.
  • Competently answer phones with correct customer service and ticketing information in a timely fashion.
  • Work with the various departments in the arena at any given time to coordinate necessary information concerning event tickets.
  • Assist with processing ticket orders.
  • Organize and Process Will Call tickets for events.
  • Learn how to sell tickets to events using computerized ticketing systems.
  • Help with creating events in the ticketing system and correspond with various event promoters when needed.
  • Assist supervisors on certain event nights to help with any questions the event staff might have.
  • Work various hours including nights, weekends, and long days depending on the schedule of events (not to exceed 20 hours paid per week).
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Be flexible to any other duties assigned by Crown Complex personnel.

EVENTS INTERNSHIP:

LOOKING FOR INTERNS FOR FALL 2015 AND SPRING 2016

This is an events management internship for class credit that will assist the Events Manager in completing tasks necessary for all events at the Crown Complex. The intern will have a hand in every aspect of their assigned events from the advance planning stages through the end of the event; hire, train, schedule and supervise all event staff, as well as oversee building and parking security and interact with local public safety officials to ensure events run smoothly; coordinate communication between event staff and delegate assignments; be responsible for and ensure overall customer and lessee satisfaction and experience.

  • Communicate with municipal officials, including police, fire and medical services, event staff and public to ensure security of patrons and events run smoothly
  • Review emergency planning procedures with all events staff for each event
  • Create and distribute detailed data sheets prior to every event
  • Assist and direct changeover crew with breakdown and setup of events
  • Coordinate service needs with Food and Beverage department as needed
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled

MARKETING AND SALES INTERN - FALL 2015 - Donald L. Tucker Civic Center (Tallahassee, FL)

Internship Description:

The Global Spectrum managed facility, The Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, Tallahassee’s premier sports and entertainment facility and home of FSU Basketball, is looking for a college junior, senior or graduate student to serve as an intern. Global Spectrum is subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor; the Philadelphia-based company which is one of the world’s largest sports and entertainment companies. Global Spectrum (global-spectrum.com) is the fastest growing firm in the public assembly facility management field with more than 120 facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
This internship is paid. $8.05 an hour.

Intern Objectives Include:

  • Assist with / learn the planning and promotion of family shows, concerts, and arena sporting events

  • Assist with / learn day-of-event operations associated with all marketing and group sales events such as client parties, birthday parties, and corporate functions before and/or during the event.

  • Assisting marketing and group sales staff with various projects involving research including conducting demographic and psychographic research for various department projects

  • Grassroots marketing research and execution by going out into the community with a regular employee to represent the arena at festivals, fairs, and other events with high traffic to publicize arena and events coming to us. This will be done to flyer, poster, create relationships with various retailers, and get the word out about the arena and the upcoming shows

  • Data entry for All Access Club, e-mail database, and sales force: and assisting in ways to increase our database

  • Learn to make group sales calls and Assist Group Sales Manager in researching corporations, scouts, schools, and other businesses that may be interested in group sales events.

  • Help with the creation and execution of group sales plan and group sales flyers.

  • Gathering event news clips for various building public relations

  • Assist with various public relation functions such as: brainstorming, executing public relation events and performing all other duties assigned

  • Assist in employee customer service award program.

  • Assist in prospecting for Corporate Sales clients

    Requirements:

  • Must be college junior, senior or grad student seeking an internship to satisfy a class credit requirement (No financial compensation is available, and housing and transportation are the student’s responsibility)

  • Hours/schedule based on school’s credit hour requirements; Minimum of 15 hours per week from January through May preferred; evenings and weekends required based on event calendar

  • Summer Internship is from January through May.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Reader and Photoshop a plus

Global Spectrum seeks students in pursuit of an internship for the Fall Semester 2015.

Position may be assigned to Sales, Events, Operations or Finance department.  This is an hourly position that may be part-time or full-time depending on the internship.  All interns will be exposed to each department during the internship but assigned to a main department for the majority of their time.

General Statement of Duties:
This position will work directly with the Marketing and Sales staff to market, promote, plan and work events at the Sears Centre Arena. This position will also research, create and implement various promotional and public relations efforts. This position will support the Sales Department efforts while performing other duties as assigned by the Marketing Manager.

Areas of Responsibility:
• Assist in the development, implementation and review of the marketing plans and event budgets
• Assist in the implementation and review of advertising/ media buying, promotions, public relations and group sales for events.
