FALL 2014 GROUP SALES & MARKETING INTERNSHIPS - Augusta Entertainment Complex (Augusta, GA)

Reports To: Group Sales Manager and Marketing Manager

Buildings: James Brown Arena and Bell Auditorium

Number of Positions: 2

Type: Paid

Hours: 15-30 hours based on event calendar/business demand

Requirements:
• Open to college students only (Junior, Senior, and Graduate Students) studying in a related major such as Marketing, Business, Sports and Entertainment Management, etc.
• 3.3 GPA or higher
• Internship is paid however travel and housing arrangements are the responsibility of the students
• Event nights and weekends may be required

Preferred Skills:
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Detail oriented, self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision

Projects/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Group Sales
• Learn from Group Sales Manager how to promote Group Sales events such as group theme nights, family shows, Broadway series shows and other events to group customers.
• Learn how to conduct Group Sales calls for promoting events on sale and for generating new business leads
• Learn to conduct research for specific target markets, create promotional materials and how to develop and implement event promotions
• Learn to handle customer seat selection and processing orders
• Become familiar with the shows/events
• Learn to execute day of event programs: birthday parties, pre-event promotions and meet & greets
• Learn how to create and maintain databases and spreadsheets
• Learn to conduct tours of the facility while conveying knowledge of the facility, amenities and upcoming events
• Assist Group Sales Manger with prospecting lead calls, setting up new client meetings, and attend networking events.
• Assist and oversee with Group Sales Department grassroots efforts
• Perform other projects as assigned

Marketing
• Help Marketing Correspond with show promoters to negotiate approval on partnerships with local groups in the market, such as approval on third party retail promotions, community groups promotions, media promotions, etc.
• Meeting with local third party retail partners to solidify event partnerships
• Conduct research each week regarding events we can attend to promote upcoming events
• Help Oversee and Manager the Venues Social Media- Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc..
• Oversee grassroots efforts for most events – i.e. contacting promoters for artwork, negotiating print rates or print trades with printers, getting materials printed (posters, flyers, register to win boxes), and getting materials out into the CSRA.
• Oversee preshow party activities before concerts. This will include brainstorming and coming up with ideas for decorations and interactive ideas to entice people to buy a preshow party package. This will also include meeting with Ovations, coming up with a menu, meeting with local groups to secure music, and meeting with the Global Spectrum staff to brainstorm ways in which to sell this package to contribute to the revenue for the Augusta Entertainment Complex.
• Oversee maintenance of database information, including number of members, cleaning the list, working to analyze lists, separating lists into “event type buckets,” coming up with new and creative ideas to always add to the database, and helping in the overall efforts to help sell tickets online.
• Coordinate and represent the Augusta Entertainment Complex and promote events via booths/tables at festivals, fairs, and other events with high traffic to publicize arena and events. This will require creativity in presenting the events at the booth, as well as organization in researching events, calling to reserve space, and staffing each event.

DURATION: Current Options - Part-time and Full-time for Fall 2014 Semester

SUMMARY:
Primary learning opportunities include assisting with the development and delivery of academic programming and support at community centers throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. Intern will also provide support to supplemental aspects of academic programming, including report card collection. Internship is conditional on the successful completion of a criminal background check; applicants should also either possess or be able to attain PA Child Abuse Clearance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• The position requires strong problem solving skills, and candidates should be highly motivated to learn, research and collaborate with academic staff
• Commitment to the importance of education in helping young people be successful in life

FALL 2014 GAME-NIGHT INTERNSHIP - Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation (Philadelphia, PA)

Reports To: Development Officer

Department: Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation

Duration/Hours: Part-Time, October-December, Average 8-12 hours a week

Responsibilities:

Primary learning opportunities include how to implement and execute various events for Snider Hockey including, but not limited to, functions at the Wells Fargo Complex, Snider Hockey’s various rink locations as well as other locations in the Philadelphia area.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Interns will attend 1-3 Flyers home games per week, staffing the Snider Hockey kiosk, promoting various items and upcoming foundation events.

• Interns should be able to inform any fans what Snider Hockey is and what we do.

• Address any inquires regarding Snider Hockey, which include but are not limited to; programming, volunteering, and donations (financial and equipment).

• Must be at games at least half hour prior to doors opening (example: doors open at 5:30pm for a 7pm game, therefore, interns are asked to arrive by 5pm) and will be required to stay until the start of the 3rd period.

• Other duties as assigned by the Development Officer.

Qualifications:

• College juniors, seniors or graduate students seeking an internship for earned credits or for an internship experience for which no academic credits are earned

• Availability to work game days and special events will be required, which includes nights and weekends

• Must demonstrate professionalism, a customer-first attitude and enthusiasm.

OVERVIEW:

Students will learn to creatively and enthusiastically handle demands and function in a fast-paced, high-volume environment through exposure to the day-to-day operations of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation and high-profile situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

College juniors, seniors, or graduate students. Candidates with majors in Accounting, Finance, Business, Marketing, Communications, or Management are preferred. Working knowledge of MS Office applications preferred. No financial compensation is available and housing and transportation are the student’s responsibility.

INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES:

• Intern with the Snider Hockey Director of Finance and other staff with exposure to our fundraising and development functions, day-to-day finances, and with communications projects.

• Work with nonprofit accounting software, cash receipts and disbursements, the A/P process, and other accounting functions.

• Learn the preparation and coordination process for Snider Hockey events, including Flyers game night activities, and other events conducted by Comcast-Spectacor entities.

• Attend meetings and learn to respond to internal and external inquiries, maintain databases, and conduct preliminary research.

• Learn the preparation and distribution process for promotional materials.

• Learn the activities for potential Snider Hockey sponsors, contributors, and partners.

The Flyers Game Presentation Department is looking for energetic, positive, and outgoing individuals who are truly interested in getting a hands-on experience working for a professional sports organization. As part of the game night staff, Promotions interns will play an active role in the development and management of all Flyers home games and events. Promotions interns will have the opportunity to contribute to the execution of in-game team and league initiatives, programs, promotions and the overall fan experience.


Qualifications:
• Must be a college junior, senior, or graduate student (The internship is PAID, however housing/transportation are the Intern’s responsibility)
• Attendance for ALL Flyers home games including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Positive, energetic, outgoing, and independent self-starters who demand nothing less than the best
• Team-oriented individual who has the ability to work well in a group atmosphere
• Knowledge and passion for hockey including an appreciation of the fan experience
• Excellent people skills with an ability to interact professionally with clients at all levels within an organization

The Game Presentation Graphic Design & Animation Intern will have the opportunity to learn and create graphics for use in-game on the Flyers jumbotron and will assist in planning and producing a wide variety of elements to enhance the fan experience.


Qualifications:
• Must be a college junior, senior, or graduate student pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Animation, Media Arts, Communications or closely related field (The internship is PAID, however housing/transportation are the Intern’s responsibility)
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator

The Flyers Game Presentation Department is looking for a driven and organized individual who has a positive, can-do attitude and a strong desire to learn and be part of the Flyers culture. Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in the planning and execution events, promotions, and initiatives which create the fan experience at each game.


Qualifications:
• Must be a college junior, senior, or graduate student (The internship is PAID, however housing/transportation are the Intern’s responsibility)
• Interest in gaining knowledge of special events, promotions, event planning, and working for a professional sports organization
• Highly organized with excellent administration and time management skills
