Job Description:
Comcast-Spectacor, owner and operator of the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia 76ers, Wachovia Center and Wachovia Spectrum, among several other entities, is looking for full-time college juniors, seniors, or graduate students to serve as a College Marketing Interns for events held at the Wachovia Center and Wachovia Spectrum. (Note: This position is for college credit and is a non-paying position).
The College Marketing Intern will:
Develop and oversee grassroots marketing campaigns on their campus promoting selected Wachovia Complex events with primary event focus study on the Wachovia Complex family shows and concerts.
Create a marketing research study used to establish and execute an effective marketing plan.
Develop non-cash agreements with campus media outlets (school paper, radio station and/or TV) promoting Wachovia Complex events.
Develop a marketing recap and form opinions based on strategies used.
Recognize and understand the components of sponsorship, public relations, sales and operations and its use and importance in our industry.
All students are required to report to a weekly classroom meeting on Fridays at 1:30 p.m. (at the Wachovia Center)
Assist interactive marketing department with daily tasks.

Summary: Assist 76ers / Flyers Organizations in collecting valuable data to be utilized by Marketing and Sales in driving business decisions. This is done by administering satisfaction surveys through electronic Palm Pilot units to fans as they enter the building on game night and then analyzing this data to call out relevant information.
Qualifications:
Open to COLLEGE Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students who are seeking internship experience for class credit as part of the curriculum; Degree seeking students in marketing, business administration, advertising, management, sports marketing, or related programs preferred

Analyze data collected and present survey results using Turnkey, Market Sight and Microsoft Excel.
Review relevant journals and Market Research articles to gain insight into current trends and how research is being used to drive business. Put together written analysis on the role of Customer Insight and Research within today’s sports.
Review and further develop current surveys used throughout the season to create more effective data collection.
Partake in data collection efforts needed outside of game night duties. *i.e. if the Marketing department is conducting community outreach campaigns, allow small groups of interns to assist in name collection for lead generation or administer short surveys as needed
Answer customer questions during game nights, direct people to different areas throughout the arena, assist however possible
Assist with giveaways and promotional items when necessary

Daily data cleansing of the customer database at Comcast Spectacor
Participate in weekly departmental and staff meetings
Manage and respond to messages from customers in the general company e-mail replies mailbox
Update and maintain all email campaign results for all Comcast Spectacor entities, including 76ers, Flyers, Wings, Premium Services, Group Sales and the Wachovia Complex
Responsible for the collection of game night data entry forms from the 76ers and Flyers
Assist in recording, compiling and analyzing all data collected from customer surveys

Organizing and archiving digital photos of team events

Sales
Assist in coordination of special sales-related events, special projects, off-site presentations, trade shows, open houses, etc.
Organize and assist in mass marketing campaigns and collateral, including direct mail pieces
Assist in prospecting leads for Corporate Sales Managers
Assist in assignments directed by the Vice President of Sales and Director of Ticket Sales
Assist in customer service / phone relations
Perform some clerical duties as assigned
Assist in group ticket mailings and handling single-game tickets for premium clients

Statistics
Record, decipher, and log the box score of every Philadelphia 76ers game
Record, decipher, and log the box scores from every game throughout the NBA
Record, update individual/team statistics for both the Philadelphia 76ers and the NBA
Record, update a complete team play-by-play of every game in the NBA
Record, update a complete individual play-by-play for players in the NBA
Assist the statistics staff with various individual projects involving research and design

SPRING 2010 GAME-NIGHT PRESENTATION INTERNSHIPS - Philadelphia Flyers (Philadelphia, PA)

Summary:
Game Presentation Interns will report directly to the Game Presentation Coordinator. Their primary function is to assist in all aspects of NHL Game Entertainment and Special Events for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Must demonstrate professionalism, a positive attitude, and strong communication skills

Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing all game presentation and event operations.
Assist in the execution of In Game contests and promotions.
Assist with special events including but not limited to season ticket holder functions, the All-Star balloting campaign, fan development, and play-off activities.
Assist with the development and fulfillment of in-game entertainment elements.
Assist in support for the invocation, color guard, national anthem, In Game Host, Game Correspondent, Delta Dental Ice team, and all special event entertainment groups.
Assist with activation of Flyers In-Game Birthday program.
Coordinate concourse décor when applicable.
Assist with the execution of all group sales assets (prime-time series, tunnel kids, high-five kids, concourse performances, etc.)
Assist with the random selection of participants for In-arena contests and promotions
Assist with the unloading and distribution of premium item giveaways.
Prepare all props, prizes and additional items used for Event Presentation purposes each game.
Work with related Comcast-Spectacor departments as necessary.
Assist with ideation, creation, and execution of all game presentation initiatives.

Qualifications:
Open to college juniors and seniors seeking an internship for class credits; HR majors preferred but all candidates who meet the above requirement will be considered.

Responsibilities:
Assist with promoting and administering the Comcast-Spectacor Internship Program, including screening and referring candidates, and coordinating interviews.

Provide support to Employment Manager with screening incoming employment applications and resumes, including daily updates of database, and mailing responses.

GAME PRESENTATION
Assist the Game Presentation department in planning, organizing and executing an array of elements necessary for the in-game entertainment of all home Flyers hockey games
Must be available for all Flyers home games
Requires a highly detail-oriented, self-motivated communicator who follows direction and functions well in a dynamic environment

YOUTH AND AMATEUR HOCKEY
Assist in the coordination and implementation of all Flyers Youth and Amateur Hockey events, including the Coaching Symposium, College Hockey Seminar, Flyers Cup and on-ice hockey clinics.
Assist Youth and Amateur Hockey staff with Flyers game presentation elements, including pre-game tours, Flyers inflatable game, Mites on Ice and the Youth Hockey Shootout.
Active participation in weekly staff meetings and Brainstorming sessions related to proposed projects.
Assist with the creation of group sales campaigns and collateral.
Contribute occasional written content to Philadelphia Flyers website
An ice hockey background / skating ability is preferred, but not necessary
