GRAPHIC DESIGNER INTERNSHIPS - Chaifetz Arena at St. Louis University (St. Louis, MO)

Reports To: Director of Marketing & Groups Sales Manager

Hours: 10-20 hours preferred; Hours may vary on a weekly basis. (Hours can be flexible to fit in student’s school schedule)

Status:  Internship / Fall 2014; Paid



Areas of Focus include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Create promotional flyers and materials for various events as well as assist with the layout, design, and appearance of the venue’s webpage and social media platforms.
  • Assist in the design of various advertising campaigns, through print, radio and television.
  • Working with images from different tours and performers to create web graphics
  • Assist the Marketing Department for all upcoming shows, including various concerts and family shows
  • Perform additional duties and objectives as assigned



  • Open to college juniors, seniors, and graduate students seeking an internship (Financial compensation is available, and housing/transportation are the responsibility of the student)
  • Graphic design or related major required
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3
  • Prefer 10-20 hours per week during normal business hours with flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Must be available to attend events on evenings and weekends as needed
  • Intern should provide their own laptop (although not required)
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Suite (specifically Photoshop and InDesign)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience creating flyers and promotional materials
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and creative
  • A winning, do-what-it-takes attitude with a desire to learn
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment

FLYERS CHARITIES DEVELOPMENT INTERN - Comcast-Spectacor Charities (Philadelphia, PA)



Job Title:           Comcast-Spectacor Charities/Flyers Charities Development Intern

Reports To:                             Programs Manager

Hours Required:                      Based on college/university requirements.

Qualifications:                         College juniors or seniors, working for earned credits.Housing/transportation is the student’s responsibility. The CSC intern will take an active role in all charity events during their internship.  Interns will be educated in the following: an understanding of daily operations of a non-profit organization, computer applications, social media skills, public relations, event planning, marketing and office managerial skills.  The intern must be familiar with Excel and Word, and demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills.  Familiarity with event planning, social media tools and web maintenance a plus.


·         Under the supervision of Programs Manager, learn to plan and execute a variety of charitable events including the Flyers Charities Halloween 5K and Flyers Wives Carnival which will give hand-on experience with promotions, ticket sales, sponsors involvement, auctions, vendors, and other duties.

·         Assist in the coordination of all Flyers Charities auctions (Stick Auction, ‘Players’ Favorite Things’ Basket Auction).

·         Learn to respond to local charity requests received daily.

·         Handle inquiries about programs such as the Flyers Charities License Plate program, Flyers Wives Carnival, various raffles and other charitable initiatives.

·         Occasional nights and/or weekends are sometimes required for Flyers home games, as well as events such as Flyers Charities Halloween 5K, etc.

·         Attend meetings, answer telephones, distribute mail, and assist with call-ins.

·         Assist in the solicitation, mailing, and distribution of materials for Charities fundraisers.

·         Assist with counting large sums of cash from the Flyers Charities 50/50 Raffle

·         Prepare monetary deposits

·         Perform all other duties as assigned.

This internship will provide opportunity to learn the following:

  • Develop social media skills through the learning and use of Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • Understand how to strategically plan and execute a fundraising event.
  • Develop writing skills through online promotional posts, auction item descriptions, PA announcements, etc.
  • Learn to develop strategic plans for increasing funds raised.

MARKETING/PR INTERN - Ted Constant Convocation Center- Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA)

Job Title: Marketing/PR Intern


Reports To: Marketing Coordinator


Hours: Flexible hours based upon event schedule / needs; however optimal experience requires approximately 20 hours availability per week.


Compensation: Paid Internship; $8/ hr.


Summary: This internship will work closely with the Marketing/Public Relations Department to learn and participate in publicizing the facility and/or events through a variety of traditional and non-traditional means for the purpose of selling tickets, booking meeting facilities, and creating public awareness for the Ted Constant Convocation Center.



  • College juniors, seniors, or graduate students

  • Recommended for Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Management, or Hospitality Majors

  • GPA of 3.5 or above highly desired

  • Active involvement in on campus civic and/or leadership activities highly desired

  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required

FALL 2014 MARKETING INTERNSHIP - Wells Fargo Center (Philadelphia, PA)

Internship Description:
Comcast-Spectacor, owner and operator of the Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, Global Spectrum Ovations Food Services, Paciolan, Front Row Marketing Services, and Flyers Skate Zone is looking for a full-time college student to serve as a Marketing Department Intern for events held at the Wells Fargo Center.

• Must be a college junior, senior or graduate student studying a related major
• Student is not required to receive college credits for this internship
• Financial compensation of $8/hour will be provided for this internship
• Travel and housing arrangements are the responsibility of the student.
• Availability to work nights and/or weekends when necessary.

• Student must be available to work a maximum of 30 hours per week – including both office hours and event hours. Most events will occur on evenings and weekends.

The Complex Marketing Intern will:
• Learn to conduct and implement market research studies used to establish and execute effective marketing plans for events.
• Learn to develop and execute grassroots marketing campaigns promoting selected Wells Fargo Center events, with primary focus on the Wells Fargo Center family shows and concerts.
• Assisting the marketing staff at booths/tables at festivals, fairs and other events with high traffic to publicize the arena and our events
• Learn to pitch non-cash agreements with media outlets (print, radio and/or television) to promote Wells Fargo Center events.
• Assist with Public Relations efforts for events, including drafting and distribution of press releases and media advisories, gathering of news clips, creation and delivery of media drops, updating of media distribution lists, supervision of media at events, and brainstorming and execution of Public Relations events.
• Develop a marketing and public relations recap for events, based on feedback and effectiveness of marketing strategies used.
• Assist with social media efforts of the marketing department.
• Recognize and understand the components of sponsorship, sales and operations as it applies to the marketing and promotion of Wells Fargo center events.
• Participate in all supervised events, game-day activities, promotions and set-up.
• Opportunity to shadow other departments within the Wells Fargo Center.
