We believe that the internship is the cornerstone of a student’s professional preparation. It allows a student to apply classroom theories, concepts and prior experience in a practical, professional setting. We’ve structured our program accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Open to COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY; Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students
• Must be seeking an internship for class credit as a prescribed part of curriculum
• Part-time and full-time internships available
• Some game nights and/or weekends may be required depending on the position; ability to work a flexible schedule preferred
• Must demonstrate professionalism, a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a “can-do” approach
• No financial compensation is available, and housing and travel are the responsibility of the student

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIPS:

Customer Service/Box Office

• Knowledge of team philosophies and policies
• Professionally handle customer service inquiries and issues
• Provide support to the 76ers sales team and Customer Service Managers
• Oversee Smart Circle ticketing program. This includes and is not limited to processing, printing, and mailing orders along with following up with customers.
• Help process and all full season, partial season ticket, and group tickets
• Assist ticket department with season ticket holder mailings
• Interact and assist Season Ticket Holders during game nights at the Customer Service table.
• Work with the Box Office during game nights to assist with ticket issues
• Create and maintain ticket department databases and spreadsheets
• Perform all other duties as assigned
   

Live Events

• Assist in writing the scripts for each home game
• Work on the game day crew, assisting and carrying out promotions during the games
• Update/create spreadsheets
• Manage/update budget information
• Brainstorm with 3601 Creative Group, internal Advertising agency of Comcast-Spectacor
• Help create new in-game contests, videos and other additions to enhance game presentation
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Marketing

• Fulfillment of customer service phone inquiries
• Responsible for coordination of collateral material such as promotional material such as promotional pieces, media releases, schedules, calendars, monthly newsletters, etc.
• Lead grassroots initiatives
• Assist with Read to Achieve, Basketball 101, Summer-Hoops Tour, and other 76ers community oriented programs
• Responsible for maintenance of contact lists/database
• Assist with marketing staff on 76ers radio, print, new media, and television promotions
• Assist with marketing staff various projects involving research and design
• Assist with interaction and coordination of the 76ers Greeters (aka Fan Squad)
• Participate in brainstorming sessions
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

New Media

• Building and creating web pages using the NBA publishing system
• Writing and posting content for the website
• Building and maintaining photo galleries for players and organization events
• Organizing and archiving digital photos of team events
• Editing and proofreading website content for accuracy
• Checking that the links on the website are functioning properly
• Miscellaneous game night responsibilities
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Sales

• Assist in coordination of special sales-related events, special projects, off-site presentations, trade shows, open houses, etc.
• Organize and assist in mass marketing campaigns and collateral, including direct mail pieces
• Assist in prospecting leads for Corporate Sales Managers
• Assist in assignments directed by the Vice President of Sales and Director of Ticket Sales
• Assist in customer service / phone relations
• Perform some clerical duties as assigned
• Assist in group ticket mailings and handling single-game tickets for premium clients
• Stocking and maintenance of promotional items/inventory & distribution for group nights during games
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Statistics

• Record, decipher, and log the box score of every Philadelphia 76ers game
• Record, decipher, and log the box scores from every game throughout the NBA
• Record, update individual/team statistics for both the Philadelphia 76ers and the NBA
• Record, update a complete team play-by-play of every game in the NBA
• Record, update a complete individual play-by-play for players in the NBA
• Assist the statistics staff with various individual projects involving research and design
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
