COMMUNITY RELATIONS ASSISTANT

The Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, are currently in search of a Community Relations Assistant for the 2014 season. This position provides interested and qualified candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program.

Job Title: Community Relations Assistant

Reports To: Director of Marketing

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Plan and coordinate youth baseball events with the RBI program, including registrations, meetings, games, and various other functions
2. Build and maintain good relationships within the Memphis community by working with schools, civic groups, churches, businesses and other organizations
3. Check daily progress & challenges of the numerous morning and evening RBI sites
4. Coordinate operations for the league, implementing rewards & goals and developing league’s game schedule
5. Coordinate and promote volunteer opportunities with the RBI program including recruiting and retaining volunteers and RBI coaches
6. Oversee transportation schedule of children and coaches to games
7. Exist as liaison between the RBI program and the Director of Marketing, reporting on field & facility conditions
8. Conduct various administrative work (i.e. scheduling, letter-writing, proposals, etc.) with and for the department head such as preparation for RBI meetings, camps, and clinics
9. Work with Redbirds players and coaches on appearances, clinics and other opportunities
10. Staff and manage awareness-building events for the organization
11. Work in conjunction with the Marketing and Sales departments
12. Provide assistance with various stadium operations (tarp duty, pick up firework debris, etc.) as needed
13. Other duties as assigned, including season ticket, gameday ticket and advertising sales, operational responsibilities, and phone duties as needed

Skills & Abilities: Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a stressful environment, willingness to learn and be a team player, and work long and unusual hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation: $7.25 per hour
