Summary:

Obtain a comprehensive understanding of the operation of the box office at the Colonial Life Arena. Learn tasks necessary in the day-to-day running of the box office through daily skill-building experiences with the Director of Ticketing, Box Office Manager and Supervisors.

Requirements:

• Exceptional customer service and communication skills both at the box office windows and on the phone.
• Self-motivated with the ability to learn and be productive in the fast-paced environment of a box office.
• Detail-oriented, creative, and able to handle multiple tasks, many times under high pressure & deadlines.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel required; Adobe Photoshop skills preferred.
• Open to college students only. Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students accepted.
• Students are required to provide documentation of receiving academic credit for internship experience.
• No financial compensation is available.
• Travel and housing arrangements are the responsibility of the students.

Internship Responsibilities:

• Learn the importance of cash handling, balancing, and reconciliation.
• Competently answer phones with correct customer service and ticketing information in a timely fashion.
• Work with the various departments in the arena at any given time to coordinate necessary information concerning event tickets.
• Create and update images in Photoshop for the website.
• Assist with processing ticket orders.
• Organize Will Call tickets for events.
• Learn how to sell tickets to events using computerized ticketing systems.
• Help with building events and correspond with various show promoters when needed.
• Assist supervisors on certain event nights to help with any questions the event staff might have.
• Run reports regarding ticket sales for various events.
• Work various hours including nights, weekends, and long days depending on the schedule of events (not to exceed 40 hours per week).
• Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
• Be flexible to any other duties assigned by Colonial Life Arena personnel.

Summary:

Assist with a wide variety of projects that encompass the event season at Colonial Life Arena. This is your opportunity to see how an arena and marketing department works in a professional environment. You may learn how the marketing department completes graphic related tasks and projects necessary to increase overall ticket sales of events at Colonial Life Arena.


Reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing, Marketing Manager, Marketing Coordinator

Requirements:

• Open to COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY, Junior, Senior, and Graduate Students
• Must receive academic credit (students are required to provide documentation of receiving academic credit for the internship experience)
• NO financial compensation is available for any position
• Travel and housing arrangements are the responsibility of the students.
• Some game nights and/or weekend participation may be required depending on the internship
• Part-time opportunities available. Able to contribute 15-20 hours per week
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe programs
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Must be: assertive, outgoing, creative, hard-working, resourceful and an independent thinker who is highly interested in working in Sports/Entertainment industry
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Photoshop
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of InDesign
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge Illustrator
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of other related Adobe Creative Suite products
• Complete tasks quickly and efficiently as assigned by the marketing department
• Experience with video editing, also a plus


Internship Responsibilities:

• Insert local show information into artwork that is provided from the shows
• Assist with the creation of artwork/ecards for eblasts
• Assist with the creation of ads for various publications as needed/local/regional/national
• Assist with the creation of posters and flyers for various shows as needed
• Learning how to meet deadlines and correspond with various publications, i.e. due date, format needed, who to send it to, etc.
• Learning how to work with Marketing and Group Sales in order to complete tasks
• Assist with annual report mock ups or production
• Assist with the concept, adjustment and execution of static and digital billboards
• Assisting in day-of-event operations associated with all Marketing events
• Assisting with email marketing initiatives for events (creating, execution, reporting)
• Assisting the marketing staff at booths/tables at festivals, fairs and other events with high traffic to publicize the arena and our events **This may require time before home football games for Fall candidates**
• Assisting Marketing staff with various Marketing projects involving research
• Helping to create and deliver media drops
• Assisting with brainstorming sessions
• Assisting with media at events
• The opportunity to interact with marketing and building staff when working on various projects

FALL 2014 GROUP SALES AND PREMIUM SERVICES INTERNSHIP - Colonial Life Arena (Columbia, SC)

Summary:

A primarily sales based internship that also provides experience in ticketing, marketing, event coordinating, and premium services. Required to assist in implementing creative packages, theme nights, and events while helping to maintain key customer sales accounts.

Reports To: Group Sales Manager and Group Sales Coordinator

Details:

• Open to college students seeking an internship to satisfy an academic credit requirement
• No financial compensation is available and housing and transportation are the responsibility of the intern
• Should be able to work in a fast paced environment
• Strong communication and computer skills are required
• Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision
• Graphic design experience is a plus


Internship Objectives include, but are not limited to the following:

• Covering the main Group Sales telephone line and learning to act as an information guide to clients calling in about upcoming events
• Learning to take show orders and control the daily box office flow
• Mailing tickets with proper collateral materials
• Accompanying Group Sales staff during onsite calls
• Assisting with building the Group Sales and Premium Services database
• Helping to research corporations, scouts, schools, and other businesses that may be interested in events and suites
• Learning to create ticket packages and show flyers
• Assisting with the selling of Entertainment and Executive Suites
• Attending any necessary events to help with activities
• Assisting with research and learning to execute promotions in the community
• Attending all organizational meetings
• Assisting the staff with any client parties, birthday parties, tours, and corporate functions
• Assisting with Carolina Basketball suite holder customer service
• Learning to telemarket events as needed

• Assisting in day-of-event operations associated with all Marketing events
• Assisting with email marketing initiatives for events (creating, execution, reporting)
• Assisting with press releases and media advisories
• Assisting the marketing staff at booths/tables at festivals, fairs and other events with high traffic to publicize the arena and our events **This may require time before home football games for Fall candidates**
• Conducting demographics, psychographics research for various department projects
• Assisting Marketing staff with various Marketing projects involving research
• Assisting with data entry for Cyber Club
• Helping to create and deliver media drops
• Gathering event news clips
• Assisting with updating media lists
• Assisting with brainstorming sessions and executing PR event ideas
• Assisting with media at events
• The opportunity to interact with marketing and building staff when working on various projects
• Attend weekly marketing meetings that will be beneficial in learning how the department operates
