GROUP SALES/MARKETING MANAGER - Cross Insurance Arena (Portland, ME)
Essential Job Functions:
Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Sales for the sales, marketing, and solicitation of new business opportunities for the Group Sales department
Responsible for conducting an aggressive outbound and in person sales campaign in order to create new business opportunities
Attend networking events to develop relationships in the community
Develop and create collateral material to promote Group Sales for selected events
Develop and implement of all aspects of group sales plans for selected events
Work with promoters to create and implement group sales plans and budgets
Develop and implement revenue and expense budgets for group sales department
Achieve/exceed sales goals
Track and manage weekly sales reports and analytics
Responsible for continuing development and creation of new revenue streams for Group Sales
Execute event responsibilities as required
Support sales efforts for tenant hockey team
Assist in managing venue social media to include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
Assist Marketing Director with projects involving research and design
Actively participate in brainstorming sessions
Assist in the creation and implementation of grassroots marketing plans
Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing and sales campaigns to maximize event awareness and exposure
Organize marketing & sales presentations as required
Develop promotions and day of event activities

Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college/university with major coursework in Business, Communications, Marketing, Facility/Sports Management or other related field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments efficiently and effectively under strict deadlines
Ability to work nights, weekends and select holidays as required, in addition to traditional business hours
Previous sales/marketing experience with an arena, convention center, hotel or other similar public assembly facility
Salary commensurate with experience
Valid driver’s license and vehicle

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the facilities and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.
The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
