Utilizing initiative and independent judgment, the Assistant General Manager assists the General Manager in planning, directing and managing the day-to-day operations of the convention center including sales, marketing, public relations, finance, human resources, event services, operations, housekeeping, maintenance, safety and security.
Supervision is exercised over professional staffs who direct various sections in day-to-day operations. Responsibility further includes evaluation and development of recommendations to improve organizational administration, procedures, policies, and programs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include, but are not limited to…) • Assist the General Manager in planning, directing and managing the day-to-day operations of the convention center including sales, marketing, public relations, finance, human resources, event services, operations, housekeeping, maintenance, safety and security • Assist the General Manager in the development and administration of the facility’s operating and capital budgets; work directly with the department directors in developing departmental operating budgets and revenue projections • Assist the General Manager in regular financial forecasts and assist in the development and implementation of financial contingency plans • Lead, motivate, coach and evaluate director level staff as assigned; provide or coordinate training as needed; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures • Address and recommend actions on personnel matters as necessary • Work with the departmental directors in the day-to-day management of their various departmental disciplines; review and evaluate processes and results; identify and resolve deficiencies and challenges • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service • As directed, develop and implements programs, policies, and procedures for the convention center • Develop or directs as necessary the development and preparation of comprehensive management reports and manuals (i.e. Operations Manual, Event Handbook, Annual Sales & Marketing Plan, Annual Preventative Maintenance Plan, Annual Facility Report, Booking Policies, Weekly Report, Fire Code Rules & Regulations, etc.)Participate and lead various interdepartmental project groups, special projects, and task forces • Participate and provide guidance to various building committees (“How You Doin’?”, Safety, etc.) • Actively participate and represent the company and facility in community betterment activities and organizations • Represent the General Manager as needed at various meetings • Under the direction of the General Manager, participate in corporate committees and initiatives designed to improve operations or establish best practices • Participate, as directed, in industry professional associations • Perform other duties as assigned

Education / Training: • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in public assembly facility management, hospitality management, business administration or a related field (combinations of experience and education meeting these requirements may be substituted) • CMP, Oglebay graduate or other industry recognized designations are preferred

Under general direction from the Security Manager and Security Supervisors, the Security Officer assists in day-to-day security operations including, but not limited to, working as a Security Guard in a variety of posts and assignments. In the absence of management, the Security Officer may receive functional event related instructions from the Event Manager(s), or general instructions from the Manager on Duty or Assistant General Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS(include, but are not limited to…):
Assist in loss control procedures
Assist in coordinating information flow from the Security Manager, Security Supervisors, Event Managers, etc. to security and event staff personnel
Assist in developing security and event staff personnel through training and example
Supervise assigned shift activity, including reports and incidents, patrolling, dispatching, activity log, fire & safety system and all other activities during shift; ensure correct and orderly flow of event coverage from shift to shift
Ensure that security and event staff personnel maintain high degree of visibility and professionalism by conducting shift briefings, uniform inspections; make periodic patrols to ensure standards are met
Assist in investigations of security matters; conduct internal investigations relating to sensitive security issues while keeping all related matters confidential
Monitor events and make related recommendations to Security Management, Event Manager or Manager on Duty
Prepare and review of incident reports for adherence to established standards; take corrective measures when necessary
§ In the absence of the Security Management, ensure that employee injury procedures are properly administered
Patrol assigned facility; observe general public; guard property against fire, theft and damages; apply effective apprehension techniques as needed
Check facilities and equipment for needed maintenance and repairs; recognize and report damage and safety hazards
When working as Base Operator, ensure correct and orderly flow of event personnel from shift to shift; monitor and administer proper sign in/out policies; monitor security system and report abnormalities to Security Management; take action to resolve the situation(s) when needed; maintain detailed and accurate notes in the daily log book; properly brief relief officer of occurrences during assigned shift
Assist Security Management in administering the facility’s emergency preparedness programs
Provide general information, directions and assistance to facility guests
§ Assist medical personnel by directing traffic, crowd control and securing needed equipment
Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
Assist Security Management in any other areas deemed applicable
