MARKETING/SALES COORDINATOR - Silverstein Eye Centers Arena (Independence, MO)

Individual is responsible for developing and marketing strategies for events at the arena as well as developing and executing corporate partnership and premium seating sales initiatives.  Constantly seek out new opportunities for the arena to increase its revenue and its exposure in the marketplace.  

ESSENTIAL MARKETING FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to…):

  • Prepare and implement marketing and public relations plans and recaps for events

  • Draft, distribute and follow-up on all press releases and media pitches

  • Create event and facility related promotional materials such as posters, handbills, e-blasts and print ads as required

  • Day of event assistance with pre-event promotions, meet and greets, Settlement and media access

  • Database management specialist that can manage, update, analyze and work with our database software to market to our customers

  • Maintain and update the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena website and mobile site

  • Maintain and update the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena digital assets including video screens, marquee and digital display boards.

  • Maintain and update Silverstein Eye Centers Arena Social Media sites and assist with strategies for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Text Club, etc.

  • Interview, select, sponsor and evaluate interns each semester; partner with HR for postings and offers

  • Collect, prepare and distribute press clips for our facilities and events

  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients

  • Exemplify the corporate philosophies

ESSENTIAL SALES FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to…):

  • Assist Director of Corporate Partnerships and Premium Seating Manager with the following:

  • Development of Sales Materials and proposals

  • Preparation of year end sponsor recap

  • Prepare/deliver contracts for sponsorships, suite leases and premium seating

  • Manage email communications to premium seat holders

  • Processing and distribution of premium tickets as required

  • Responsible for continuing the creation of new revenue streams for department and venue

  • Assist Corporate Partnerships with fulfillment of sponsorship obligations

  • Perform variety of pre-event day responsibilities as required Including but not limited to distribution/solicitation for F/B packages for suites, Client outreach and servicing, assistance with promotional efforts, meet & greet, etc

  • Database management specialist that can manage, update, analyze and work with our database software to market to our customers

  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients

  • Exemplify corporate philosophies


  • Minimum of one-year experience in customer service, marketing, ticketing or business to business sales.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred or complimentary experience in a marketing, sales, customer service, sports, arena or theater setting

  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office Applications, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign preferred

  • Database and Social Media marketing experience preferred

  • Experience with different website platforms is preferred  

  • Experience with Salesforce and Constant Contact is desirable

  • Demonstrated ability to formulate creative and original promotional ideas

  • Experience with writing press releases and marketing plans

  • Experience with Ticketmaster or comparable ticketing system is highly desired

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to travel as required; must provide own transportation

  • Possess valid driver’s license or have the ability to acquire

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously. 

  • Must have demonstrated ability to perform effectively under stressful situations

  • Must have a demonstrated ability to function in a fast paced, high-pressure environment

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including long hours, nights, weekends and holidays

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Must be detail oriented, have strong organizational skills, and demonstrated interpersonal skills

  • Exemplary customer service skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously

Intellectual/Social demands:

While performing duties of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time constraints and with moderate to high pressure situations. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will occasionally be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame.  This position also requires frequent use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, greeting and directing clients verbally and in writing.  Employee must be able to recognize and resolve conflicts, and be able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients and determine an optimal solution to their concern.  Employee will frequently communicate via telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. This position requires employee to frequently work both independently or as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices such as ticketing equipment and software, laminator, calculators, telephones, copy machines, faxes and printers.  Employee will also frequently move about inside and outside facility in various areas before/during/after events in the course of directing clients/groups to desired locations.  Employee must constantly communicate via radio, telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information.  Employee may occasionally be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

The duties of this position are performed primarily in doors in an office environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and moderate to loud during event days.
