OPERATIONS COORDINATOR - Mullins Center (Amherst, MA)

Position Summary: To manage, supervise and coordinate the set-up and operations of the building; oversee all building changeovers; and provide highly responsible staff assistance to the assigned facility director.

Job Functions:

  • Coordinate all services and activities involved in the operations of arena and function room sets
  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate front-line staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures
  • Assist in planning, directing, coordinating and reviewing the work plans for facility operations
  • Order building supplies and materials for maintenance programs within budget guidelines; receive and maintain supplies
  • Ability to follow written instruction, interpret CAD’s and blue prints
  • Interface with union officials and employees as required
  • Develop long range plans for future events
  • Assign appropriate changeover personnel to accurately and efficiently set-up and tear down events
  • Communicate between shifts the necessary tasks that still need to be completed
  • Working knowledge of operations equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, staging, retractable seating risers, basketball floors, hockey glass, etc.
  • Coordinate between changeover crew and housekeeping needs with custodial supervisors
  • Maintain departmental equipment
  • Assist the Community Ice Rink Manager and Champions Center Building Manager with projects and staffing assistance
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


  • Degree preferred; equivalent experience will be acknowledged
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in building maintenance including at least one year of building changeover work in an Arena, Convention Center or Public Assembly Facility including set-up/housekeeping, event coordination or related field.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to function in a fast paced, high-pressure environment and possess superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Zamboni experience a plus
  • Must have the ability to work long hours, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be self-motivated and have excellent organizational skills
