MARKETING COORDINATOR - South Okanagan Events Centre (Penticton, BC)

Hours:              40 hours/week – Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended (long) work days and extended number of days

           

Overview:         The Marketing Coordinator acts as an extension and support to the Director of Marketing and the Multimedia Producer and will take a supportive role in the marketing initiatives for the South Okanagan Events Centre Complex, including the South Okanagan Events Centre, Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, Penticton Vees Junior A Hockey Club and Memorial Arena.

The Marketing Coordinator will work closely with the Penticton Vees Sales Team in supporting the sales effort by designing sales and marketing collateral, in-game promotional graphics and overseeing the creative process for advertising and promotional materials. 
 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for the coordination, development and design of collateral materials such as promotional pieces, sales materials, advertisements, and various graphic elements for in-game promotions as needed for the Penticton Vees Junior A Hockey Club and for upcoming concerts and events at the South Okanagan Events Centre and the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.

  • Participate in sales and marketing meetings to add creative ideas to brainstorming sessions to increase ticket sales and overall event revenue.

  • Provide marketing support for Penticton Vees home games, concerts, family shows, sporting events and other hosted events.

  • Assist in public relations efforts such as press conferences, media releases, story pitches, media drops, etc.

  • Support in the development and implementation of marketing campaigns to maximize event awareness and exposure for aforementioned events.

  • Assist in the communication and support efforts for other departments such as Corporate Partnerships.

  • Develop, nurture and grow grassroots campaigns with community partners.

  • Create online advertising campaigns including but not limited to Google Adwords and Youtube advertising, retargeting and social media advertising.

  • Assist in the compilation of event settlement information.

  • Promote HYD culture and principles within the department and facility.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications (educational, experience and basic knowledge requirements):

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Communications or Sports/Business Management.

  • Minimum of 1-3 years marketing experience preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language required.

  • Knowledge of interactive media (including but not limited to website maintenance, online advertising and email marketing)

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint.

  • Proficient in Photoshop and knowledge of other Adobe Creative Cloud Applications.

  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Strong work ethic – self-directed learner.

  • Creative and proactive problem solver.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and selected holidays.
