Facility Operations/Security/Event Management: Custodial/Housekeeping
BUILDING SERVICES WORKER - Spectra Venue Management- Overland Park (Overland Park, KS)

SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision from the Director of Operations or Building Services Supervisor, Building Services Workers perform custodial, housekeeping and light maintenance tasks as assigned. In the absence of the Director of Operations or Lead Worker, Building Services Workers may receive instruction from the Event Services Supervisor, Event Manager or Manager on Duty.

Job Duties: (include, but are not limited to…)

  • Work from general instructions, specifications and checklists.
  • Daily inspection of areas of responsibility
  • Maintain exterior of facility.  Tasks include picking up trash, emptying trash cans and sweeping parking lots.
  • Sweep, mop, scrub and wax floors
  • Wash walls, windows, stainless steel, counter tops and woodwork.
  • Clean restrooms and replenish supplies
  • Remove stains, clean and extract carpet
  • Dust, polish, arrange and move furniture and equipment
  • Remove trash and waste
  • Sort recyclables
  • Use hand tools or small powered equipment applicable to the work being performed
  • Perform facility and equipment maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Report defective equipment, facility damage, areas of the facility requiring cleaning to supervisor in an timely manner
  • Inventory and order janitorial supplies and paper products
  • Remove and keep clear snow and ice from sidewalks and stairs
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

  • Perform other duties as required

OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Work schedules are determined by event activity.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Education / Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED

Licenses or Certificates:

  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Kansas or Missouri driver’s license

PART TIME EXTERIOR FACILITY SERVICES - Spectra Venue Management (Overland Park, KS)

Summary:       

Global Spectrum seeks skilled, motivated and reliable individuals to fill the part time Exterior Facility Services worker for the Overland Park Convention Center. Under direct supervision from an Event Services Supervisor, Exterior Facility Services Worker provides custodial, housekeeping and light maintenance tasks as assigned for the exterior areas of the Convention Center. Other duties include, but are not limited to, operating various types of cleaning equipment, forklifts and scrubbers. In the absence of an Event Services Supervisor, Exterior Facility Services may receive instruction from the Event Services Lead, Director of Events, Event Manager or Manager on Duty.

 

Requirements:

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent GED and must be able to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be available to work flexible hours and days including early morning, days, evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time and lift objects up to 50 pounds
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid Kansas or Missouri driver’s license or identification card

 

Salary: $10.00/hour

PART-TIME AUDIO VISUAL TECH - Overland Park Convention Center (Overland Park, KS)

JOB TITLE:               PART-TIME AUDIO VISUAL TECH

Reports to:                AV Manager and/or FT AV Tech

Supervises:              None

Status:                      Non - Exempt

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision assists in performing responsible technical work within the Audio Visual Department; operates technical media equipment for events and performances at OPCC.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma and one year experience in audio visual and technical media coordination and operation, preferably in a convention, theater, arena or hotel environment.

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain a Missouri driver’s license

Special Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment and electronic services in public assembly settings

  • Operational characteristics of events

  • Knowledge of personal computers and computerized audio-visual systems

  • Terminology used in entertainment/convention/public assembly settings

  • Relevant federal, state and local regulations

  • Ability to use tools and equipment properly and safely.           

RESPONSIBILITIES: (including, but not limited to):

  • Sets up, operate and tear down all in-house equipment and rented or client provided audio-visual equipment

  • Performs both preventive and corrective maintenance to all in-house Audio Visual Services equipment.

  • Consults with clients regarding Media Services requirements.

  • Provides technical advising to other departments upon request

  • Trouble-shoots Media Services sound and lighting systems.

  • Work a flexible work schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Operational characteristics of media equipment usage and applications

  • Technical requirement, methods, equipment, materials, and or other systems as they apply to facility events including, but not limited to: principles of event staging and performance equipment, lighting and sound equipment, rigging safety, and audio visual equipment

  • Recognize audio visual related challenges, analyze and identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives.
