MAIN RESPONSIBILITY: Assist with and plan the Overland Park Convention Center’s annual Touch-a-Truck event taking place on August 16, 2015. This family event is open to the public and represents our regard of the families of Overland Park. Expected attendance: 3,000 – 6,000.
Assist in planning timeline creation
Assist in day of timeline creation
Assist with marketing plan
Marketing media drops to local television companies
Attend local chamber networking events
Assist marketing department in establishing a news release calendar
Write press releases and send to local media contacts
Become proficient in CAD and EBMS systems, helping create Event Resumes and CAD drawings for upcoming event
EVENT SERVICES STAFF (Part-Time) - Overland Park Convention Center (Overland Park, KS)
Reports To: Event Services Supervisor
Status: Part-Time; Hourly; Nonexempt
Summary: Global Spectrum seeks skilled, motivated and reliable individuals to fill the partl time position of Showcare/Setup Worker for the Overland Park Convention Center. Under direct supervision from an Event Services Supervisor, Event Services perform event set-up and tear down, custodial, housekeeping and light maintenance tasks as assigned. Other duties include, but are not limited to, operating various types of cleaning equipment, forklifts and scrubbers. In the absence of an Event Services Supervisor, Event Services may receive instruction from the Event Services Lead, Director of Events, Event Manager or Manager on Duty.
Requirements: • Must have high school diploma or equivalent GED and must be able to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance • Must be 18 years of age or older • Must be available to work flexible hours and days including early morning, days, evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time and lift objects up to 50 pounds • Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid Kansas or Missouri driver’s license or identification card

PART TIME SECURITY GUARD - GRAVEYARD SHIFT - Overland Park Convention Center (Overland Park, KS)
Under direct supervision from the Security Supervisor, PT Security Agents provide general protection of facility property and personnel; monitor facility and protect against fire, damage and theft; provide general information and assistance to facility guests. In the absence of the Security Supervisor, Security Agents may receive event-related instructions from Event Managers or general instructions from the Manager on Duty, Director of Operations or General Manager.
JOB DUTIES: (include, but are not limited to…)
Patrol assigned facility; lock and unlock doors as required; guard property against fire, theft and damage
Observe facilities and equipment for needed maintenance and repairs; recognize and report damage and safety hazards
Be aware of the location and use of emergency alarms and equipment; follow established procedures in case of fire, disorder or other emergency situation
Observe general public; provide general information, directions and assistance to facility guests; report suspicious behavior to Security Base; apply effective apprehension techniques as required
Maintain high degree of visibility and professionalism; respond to various situations, issues and requests for assistance; prepare incident reports in accordance with departmental standards
Assist medical personnel by directing traffic, crowd control and securing needed equipment
As Base Operator, ensure correct and orderly flow of event personnel from shift to shift; monitor and administer proper sign in/out policies; monitor security system and report abnormalities to the Director of Operations or Security Supervisor; take corrective actions when needed; maintain detailed and accurate notes in the daily log book; properly brief relief officer of occurrences during assigned shift
Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
Perform other duties as required
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Experience in using Microsoft Office software; experience in using the Lenel Security System (or other security monitoring system) is preferred
Work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities
Stand and walk for long periods of time and lift objects up to 50 pounds
Work well both independently and as part of a team; must have a positive attitude
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and facility users

PART-TIME AUDIO VISUAL TECH - Overland Park Convention Center (Overland Park, KS)
JOB TITLE: PART-TIME AUDIO VISUAL TECH
Reports to: AV Manager and/or FT AV Tech
Status: Non - Exempt
Under general supervision assists in performing responsible technical work within the Audio Visual Department; operates technical media equipment for events and performances at OPCC.
High school diploma and one year experience in audio visual and technical media coordination and operation, preferably in a convention, theater, arena or hotel environment.
Possession of, or ability to obtain a Missouri driver’s license
Special Knowledge of:
Knowledge of audio-visual equipment and electronic services in public assembly settings
Operational characteristics of events
Knowledge of personal computers and computerized audio-visual systems
Terminology used in entertainment/convention/public assembly settings
Relevant federal, state and local regulations
Ability to use tools and equipment properly and safely.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (including, but not limited to):
Sets up, operate and tear down all in-house equipment and rented or client provided audio-visual equipment
Performs both preventive and corrective maintenance to all in-house Audio Visual Services equipment.
Consults with clients regarding Media Services requirements.
Provides technical advising to other departments upon request
Trouble-shoots Media Services sound and lighting systems.

Operational characteristics of media equipment usage and applications
Technical requirement, methods, equipment, materials, and or other systems as they apply to facility events including, but not limited to: principles of event staging and performance equipment, lighting and sound equipment, rigging safety, and audio visual equipment

PART-TIME ENGINEER - Overland Park Convention Center (Overland Park, KS)
Job Title: Part-Time Engineer
Reports to: Chief Engineer
Skilled mechanical work in the operation and maintenance of heating and/or air conditioning and accessory equipment in a major facility and related work as required. The engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the heating and/or air-conditioning and accessory equipment on an assigned shift. General assignments and standard operating instructions are established by a superior but employee is expected to perform routine work with no immediate supervision. Employee may supervise the work of semi-skilled helpers.
JOB DUTIES: (including but not limited to)
Starts pumps and adjusts valves.
Checks equipment for proper watch level, steam pressure and valve operation.
Operates and regulates compressors, fans, radiators, water heaters and water softeners.
Cleans and maintains pumps, screens, filters, strainers, pipes and other equipment.
Performs miscellaneous repair work incidental to operating duties.
Keeps records of operations, temperatures, pressures, fuel consumed etc.
Locates and replaces burned out lighting fixtures.
Assists in the set-up and take down of electrical needs for certain events.
Performs preventative maintenance and other work orders.
All other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer.
Good knowledge of the methods, principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of steam-generated equipment, ventilating and air-conditioning systems and similar equipment and machinery.
Skill in the use of standard hand tools used in the repair of boilers, pipes, valves and similar equipment.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and to prepare operating and related records.
Experience in the operation and maintenance of steam and various types of heating and air conditioning equipment.

The Sales Manager is responsible for selling and promoting the use of the convention center along with maintaining and modifying facility schedules.
Duties: (including, but not limited to):
Responsible for generating and securing new business utilizing both inside and outside sales solicitation.
Represent the assigned facility to all potential clients; conduct facility tours; answer questions and provide information regarding facility services; assist clients in finalizing booking arrangements.
Responsible for all aspects of weddings from booking to event management.
Attending and monitoring a booth for all wedding related consumer shows held at the OPCC.
Responsible for sales process for all special events.
Enter information and maintain information in scheduling and booking documents; enter booking information into computer system.
Preparation of event contracts and correspondence to clients.
May participate in the development of newsletters and other marketing materials.
Prepare various reports on operations and activities; provide assistance and staff support to the Sales & Marketing Director.
Serve as a liaison with industry representatives, the general public and other convention center departments and divisions.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Attend Industry events.
Two years of increasingly responsible sales and marketing experience.
Flexible schedule to be able to work all weddings and selected networking events.
A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course works in marketing, business administration, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
Salary: Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
