Facility Operations/Security/Event Management: Security
DIRECTOR OF SECURITY & SERVICES - Spectra Venue Management- University of Phoenix Stadium (Glendale, AZ)

SUMMARY:

Utilizing independent judgment, the Director of Security directs, manages, supervises and coordinates the activities and operations of the Security Department and event staffing program for the facility; establishes and maintains relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement and life safety units.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess current working knowledge of operational characteristics, services and activities of public facility security and safety programs; crowd management and control techniques; principles of municipal budget preparation and control; pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible security experience in a NFL facility. 
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) required
  • Ability to discern security threats based on information received from law enforcement agencies and determine
  • Prior management experience, including the ability to direct, train, motivate and evaluate security staff and event staff
  • Must be able to provide effective direction to staff in emergency response situations
  • Knowledge of implementing NFL best practices & Code of Conduct
  • Certification in NIMS 100/200, 300/400, & 700/800
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Must be willing and able to work event nights, weekends and holiday

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide overall management for all services and activities involved in facility and event security, facility admissions, and emergency preparedness, using independent judgment and personal initiative
  • Plan, develop and implement programs to ensure the security of facility staff, property and attendees
  • Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; identify opportunities for improvements and review with management; implement improvements
  • Direct, train, motivate and evaluate security staff and event staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for the Security Department and all other assigned programs and functions; meet with staff on a regular basis to identify and resolve challenges; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures.
  • Lead weekly event security briefings with internal stakeholders and public safety 
  • Assist the Event Managers in the development of event specific security and staffing plans
  • Develop event budgets for security, police and EMT’s
  • Purchasing/Ordering security related goods and services and approval of invoices for payment
  • Coordinate the scheduling of external event staffing personnel including, but not limited to, off duty police officers,  EMT’s, peer group security as needed
  • Manage and participate in the development and administration of the Security Department annual budget; forecast additional funds needed for staffing, training, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor expenditures; implement adjustments as necessary
  • Provide effective direction to staff in emergency response situations and manage facility EAP with regular updates and exercises
  • Monitor and maintain the facility’s computerized life safety and security systems, including fire, security camera and access control
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local, state and Federal law enforcement and life safety agencies
  • Provide responsible staff assistance to the Director of Operations; prepare and present regular staff reports and other related correspondence
  • Conduct a variety of industry operational studies; recommend modifications to security and safety programs, policies, and procedures as appropriate
  • Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Develop staffing plans for NFL and NCAA events, interfacing with the prime stakeholders and maintaining industry standards and practices.
  • Expected travel to NFL meetings, industry conferences and other events.
  • On-call 24/7, as needed and based on stadium activities
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

EVENT SERVICES INTERN - University of Phoenix Stadium (Glendale, AZ)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The University of Phoenix Stadium/Global Spectrum is currently searching for our next Event Services Intern. This individual will provide direct assistance to the Event Managers, Event Coordinator and the Director of Event Services in their responsibility as the primary liaison between the facility and the Lessee for planning a wide variety of events and activities. In addition, the intern will be asked to assist other departments with game day reports and projects. Events will include, but are not limited to; trade shows, conferences and meetings, banquets, job fairs, consumer shows, mega events such as concerts, soccer games, high school/collegiate and professional football games. Occasionally the Event Services Intern may be asked to attend offsite meetings and networking events. The Event Services Intern will also assist with our customer service training program “How Are You Doing” and the stadium tour program. The position will provide assistance in ensuring that requests of the Lessee and their contracts are met while adhering to City of Glendale and Stadium policies and procedures. Duties include, but are not limited to; attending client pre and post event meetings, assist in gathering event information in advance of events, preparing event data sheets and CAD drawings, cost estimates and settlement, plan and organize facility set up, on site assistance to staff and client during events, creating and placement of event signage, event recaps, event photographs, and assisting other departments as noted above. Duties will from time to time include administrative activities.

QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate must be in the progress of earning a bachelor’s or masters degree and enrolled in a formal internship program with his or her university/college. Ideal candidates are seeking degrees in Facility Management, Hospitality and Tourism or Sports Management. Consideration may be given to other degrees if the candidate can demonstrate equivalent industry work experience. Candidate should have the ability to make good decisions under pressure. Excellent organizational skills are a must. Possess exceptional written and verbal communications skills. Solid computer experience in Windows XP, Computer-aided design (CAD), Microsoft applications and Excel. Work in event management software such as Ungerboeck, EventPro or CC Breeze is a plus.

This internship will follow the guidelines and requirements of the student’s university program which may including evaluations, progress reports and documentation of hours worked.

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: The internship period is fall of 2015 and will run concurrently with the applicant’s university internship requirements. Ideal time frame is August thru –January 11th with a typical work week of 25-35 hours which will include every Arizona Cardinals home football game. If the applicant is available we would like him/her to work the 2016 Fiesta Bowl (January 1) and the College Football Playoff National Championship Game (January 11th) and any ancillary events leading up to the event days. Additional mega events will be included when booked. A member of the Event Services team will serve as the intern’s direct supervisor under the direction of the Director of Event Services.

OPERATIONS INTERN - University of Phoenix Stadium (Glendale, AZ)

Internship Overview: The University of Phoenix Stadium is currently searching for our next Operations intern. Intern will be exposed to and provide support for operational functions. Intern will also be exposed to other events held at the facility and provide operational support services as needed.

Essential Duties:

•Shadow the operations department during events and assist with event-related and non- event related activities

•Provide Operations Management with feedback as it relates to job duties; and overall intern observations and experiences

•Exhibit an attitude and work ethic that exudes “team player”.

•Assist with new hire orientations

•Perform all other duties as assigned

Additional Responsibilities:
• Provide support for other organizational departments as the need arises both on game days and non-game days
• Provide a professional demeanor and promote a good working relationship with full-time staff, interns, game day staff and our fans

Qualifications/Skills Needed:

·         The candidate must be college junior, senior or graduate student, who is seeking an internship to satisfy a class credit requirement with their university. Applicable degrees are; Facility Management, Sports Management, or Business Administration. Consideration may be given to other degrees if the candidate can demonstrate equivalent industry work experience.

·         Must be able to keep up in fast-paced environment, customer service orientated and professional, and able to participate during normal business hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as based on the event calendar

Length of Internship:

The internship period is the Fall of 2015 and will run concurrently with the applicant’s university internship requirements. Hours: Varies. Times and days vary depending on game schedule. To be considered, the intern must be willing to work a non-traditional schedule of hours and days as needed. This would include nights, weekends, and dates when events are scheduled.
