DIRECTOR, CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS - Wells Fargo Center (Philadelphia, PA)

SUMMMARY: Spectra, an international sports and entertainment firm representing venues, teams, municipalities and world-class events, is seeking a professional sales person to join our growing corporate team. This exciting position will be responsible for generating revenue from local, regional and national companies through the sale of integrated sponsorship packages for regional sports properties along with a professional sports team in the greater Philadelphia area.  The Director of Corporate Partnerships will sell fully integrated marketing, media and promotional programs that include marketing rights, on-premise signage, event sponsorships, promotions, event marketing, media exposure and select premium seating elements.


  • Prospect, sell, activate and maintain corporate sponsorships, advertising and select premium seating partnerships for the venue
  • Work with venue staff and Spectra Regional Vice President to implement the goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of all corporate sales programs and activities
  • Regularly engage in the business of making sales, and presentations away from the primary place of business
  • Design sales proposals and presentations for potential corporate partners
  • Prepare advertising, sponsorship and premium seating contracts and addenda; identify issues with contract language; address issues with and make recommendations for resolution; negotiate corporate sales pricing and other rates as required
  • Achieve corporate partnership revenue goals and budgets
  • Meet with corporate partners and outside agencies at their place of work to get all branding created and placed in a timely manner
  • Interact in a professional manner with senior level management
  • Oversee the service of corporate partnerships through various means including direct contact, newsletters, partner gatherings and client entertainment events
  • Identify key open categories and new categories as prospective new business leads
  • Consistently exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Renew and grow existing corporate sponsorship and media partnerships
  • Track prospecting, sales and inventory, and manage sales reports
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in advertising or sports and/or event sponsorship
  • Corporate Sales experience within the state of Pennsylvania preferred
  • Proven track record of generating new business and retaining clients
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in sales, public relations, business administration, hospitality management, or other related field
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Work, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to spend time on the road conducting sales pitches to new prospective clients
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required
  • Outstanding communication skills are essential for interactions with clients, operational leaders and other senior executives

  • Cultivate, manage, and grow client relationships in order to deliver excellent customer service and value to our clients
  • Assist in the annual renewal of Club Box and Suite Holders
  • Work with the Director to develop up-sell opportunities among the Premium Seating clients.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and effectively communicate all Complex happenings, events, and premium seat holder benefits relevant to assigned account base

Job Summary:

Under the leadership of the SVP of Sales, the Senior Director/Vice President of Premium Seating (title commensurate with experience) is responsible for the strategic planning of the Wells Fargo Center’s premium seating, including pricing, go-to marketing strategy and revenue optimization.  In addition, the position will be responsible for overseeing the Sales Executives in the Premium Seating department, who are responsible for selling Premium Seating contracts for Suites, Superboxes, Club Boxes, VIP Packages and single night rentals for the NHL Philadelphia Flyers, the NBA Philadelphia 76ers, additional sporting events, concerts and family shows.  The position will provide guidance and influence in the development of processes and procedures, training and development, sales campaign and goal creation and execution and overall sales management for the department.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a passion for premium sales and sales management, with proven successes in the areas noted below:

  • Lead premium sales team through comprehensive transformation of Wells Fargo Center.
  • Spearhead the design and implementation of the premium strategy of Wells Fargo Center.
  • Consult with senior leadership on industry best practices and innovative initiatives across all premium inventory in the arena.
  • Identify, develop and implement elevated process and operational improvements, including product mix and offers to enable best-in-class performance and management of premium sales and retention efforts for all product offerings.
  • Create and implement a successful sales culture by leading and motivating sales representatives while developing accountability within the department.
  • Manage the activity of the Premium Sales department by maximizing sales bandwidth, creating appropriate goals and metrics to properly measure staff performance and prioritize product targets.
  • Build an aggressive, competitive and collaborative premium sales department by identifying, training, incentivizing and growing Premium Seating Executives.
  • Create and execute successful and measurable sales campaigns, with the focus on driving contractual premium revenue.
  • Generate, design and coordination of effective marketing campaign and campaign scheduling to ensure targeted and comprehensive prospecting for all products.
  • Establish goals and incentive programs to maximize the results of the department; ensure adherence and accountability to all sales goals and objectives.
  • Partner with VP of Sales and executive team in the development of pricing and packaging strategies of premium products to maximize revenue across all properties.
  • Research and identify business challenges of current and prospective premium customers; measure and track the impact of the investment on business; develop messaging standards to communicate during renewal process and for use in new business opportunities.
  • Assist with handling customer challenges and/or concerns as they relate to sales made by the department.
  • Complete weekly sales reports for the SVP of Sales; track and measure revenue generated to achieve budgeted goal for Premium Seating.


In addition to possessing the necessary experience and skill set to achieve the tasks established above, the Senior Director/Vice President of Premium Seating must also meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Sports Management, or Business-Related field required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years Sales experience with a professional sports team including management experience.
  • Experience implementing premium strategy for a new or large-scale renovation of a stadium or arena
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate premium sales executives.
  • Experience in budgeting, as well as forecasting revenues and expenses.
  • Familiarity with Database Management (
  • Ability to travel and work nights, weekends and select holidays, in addition to traditional business hours.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and customer service skills.
  • Enthusiastic, tireless teacher, motivator and sales professional required.
  • Excellent knowledge of PC systems including Word, Excel, database management software, and Ticketing software; knowledge of Spectra Ticketing software a plus

Work Environment:

  • The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
